at
the
heart
of
the
read.
SmartRead appears in the middle of the article, where the reader is already engaged. Fully fluid, it adapts to the creative rather than the other way round, and its Vision mode goes full screen on mobile to multiply attention.
A format built for the heart of the content
SmartRead is an in-article format: it sits directly within the body of the text, on article pages. So it isn't a format you'll find on section pages or article listings, but precisely at the moment the reader is most engaged in reading.
The in-article format was invented and popularized by Teads, and it has become a market standard for good reason: it's one of the few placements where advertising meets attention that has already been earned, rather than having to seize it.
Our version takes that principle and applies what we do best to it: complete fluidity, support for all our content types, and a Vision mode that changes the performance scale on mobile.
What sets our version apart
An in-article format that imposes nothing
Where most in-article formats impose a template, ours fits the creative you already have.
Fully fluid, with no ratio constraint
SmartRead adapts to the size of your creative, not the reverse. Vertical, horizontal, square, standard ratio or entirely custom: there are no technical constraints to respect and no template to produce specially.
Every content type
As across all our formats: simple image, slider mixing images and videos, before/after mechanism, HTML5 creative, video, third-party script or a product card connected to your feed.
Vision mode, SmartRead's interscroller
This is the option that changes the most. When enabled, Vision mode switches the format to full screen on mobile as it enters the reading area. The format then resists the scroll for a moment, long enough for the message to land, before fading away and handing control back to the reader continuing their article.
Some ad operations call this mechanism an interscroller. Whatever the vocabulary, the effect is the same: by taking over the whole screen for a brief moment, the format removes the visual competition from other placements and captures full attention.
In practice, enabling Vision mode considerably improves the two metrics that matter: campaign performance and attention time generated. And because the scroll resistance stays brief and reading resumes naturally, the reader doesn't experience it as an interruption forced on them.

Where SmartRead sits in the range
SmartRead holds a particular place among our exclusive formats: it's the one that blends most naturally into the editorial experience, because it lives inside the text rather than around it.
If your priority is clicks, SmartPulse remains the strongest performer. If it's attention time, SmartView holds the eye longer. SmartRead is the choice when you want to reach the reader at the precise moment they are focused on a piece of content, with a format that doesn't jar within the page. Vision mode then lets you find an extra level of performance on mobile.
